Along the ancient road and pilgrimage route Via Francigena, the project has a special meaning in the hearts of pilgrims. Walking into the church from Via Francigena is filled with piety and yearning, so we designed a downward path to add a sense of sacred atmosphere.

As said above, "Looking Up" is what we want to guide people to do in this project. The path leading from the pilgrimage path into the church space is from the ground to the underground. The pilgrims are guided by the architectural form like a floating sail, enter the site, walk on the big steps, and between the concrete walls, the sunlight is projected through the plastic film, and the shadow of the steel cable is cast, and the pilgrims can enter quickly. in a quiet environment. Before moving in, you can see the green space under the roof for cultural entertainment. People who are active here have become the scenery in the eyes of others. Between the green plants, limited by the surrounding walls, the privacy of the space is enhanced and people feel To this is an activity space exclusively for believers. The window in the accommodation space can well see the scene in the garden, as well as the church itself, looking up from the underground space can bring pilgrims a pious feeling. The interior space of the church is used for religious activities and concerts. The roof increases the height of the interior space and deepens the sacred feeling of the space. The interior space emphasizes the geometric sense of the octagon through the changes of light and shadow, realizing the rich changes of the space and adding its mystery.

                                                                                                                                                    Floor Plan

The original building volume is composed of yellow clay with natural color. In the selection of new materials, concrete with organic properties, steel structure, tempered glass and plastic film are selected. The collision of old and new materials strengthens the visual impact that the church brings to people. Concrete itself has organic properties and does not conflict with the original material. The canopy formed by steel cables and plastic film gives a light and flexible experience. The steel structure is used as a linear element, and the transparent materials such as tempered glass and plastic film are used as surface elements, which are organized in an orderly manner. The interior floors are made of pine, which is tonal unity with the exterior ground.
